This Tuesday 26 May, Le Parisien Etudiant publishes its 2020 ranking of French Grande Ecoles which award Master’s degrees. EM Normandie’s Master in Management (MIM) is again ranked 16th of 36 écoles, consolidating its position in the top 20 best French schools.

Le Parisien Etudiant scrutinises 36 management schools which offer Bac+5 Master’s-level degrees against 16 stringent criteria, including national certifications and international accreditations, budget, appeal, infrastructure quality, teaching staff, learning and innovation, work-study programmes, research and international reach, employment success of young graduates and social diversity.

The list was published in the midst of the worldwide health crisis, as students were deciding which competitive exams to choose (such as SESAME and Passerelle Grande Ecole – University Intake Programme for EM Normandie). This demonstrates how the grandes écoles are adapting and responding to this unprecedented situation.

Response to the crisis and mutual support

Many grandes écoles have taken action to help their students and the wider community. EM Normandie has donated masks for carers in the Normandy region, and has set up a special solidarity fund for its students with the support of the EM Normandie Alumni Association and the EM Normandie Foundation.

The EM Normandie Way of Life goes global

Le Parisien Etudiant devotes a full page to the changes made by the School, which focuses on the life and learning experience in all its forms, and encourages students to shape their own future careers. The Master in Management has undergone a complete transformation, with new content to meet twenty-first century challenges on topics such as social responsibility, ethics and managing digital technology, and new specialisms which include Artificial Intelligence for Marketing Strategy (with EPITA), Digital Entrepreneurship and Digital Marketing in Luxury Lifestyle.

New projects are available to students in addition to student association activities, to provide a solid foundation on which to develop their professional skills, know-how and soft skills. These include startup, community, social responsibility and consultancy projects. Finally, the redesigned Master in Management offers further international opportunities on the Dublin and Oxford campuses, and through its global network of 200 partner universities.

Employment: How to find the perfect job

Young graduates entering the labour market during a period of economic shock will need our support more than ever. As Marielle Lassarat, Director of the Career Path for EM Normandie explains, when the crisis began “We immediately set up workshops on a range of topics, including: How to manage an online interview with a recruiter, and how to enhance your LinkedIn profile (the must-have platform for all candidates)”.
Her advice to graduating students is: This year, start looking early. If you are offered an internship, take it at least until the situation improves. You will be able to add this valuable experience to your CV for future recruitment opportunities”.
