3 questions to Vincent Samson, Educational & Vocational Consultant, www.tonavenir.net
Companies and Careers
Why do you sit on EM Normandie Admissions Panels?
"This was the first time I was engaging in this exercise. In my capacity as Educational Consultant for www.tonavenir.net, my core business is to coach young people in their Educational and Vocational Orientation. Taking part in an Admissions Jury is full of lessons to be learnt; I can thus better perceive what a Management Grande Ecole is seeking as regards intrinsic personal qualities and values, but also realise how varied candidates' profiles are. The fact the interview is with two panel members allows fine complementarity and contributes naturally to making the selection process more efficient".
In your view, what qualities are a must for future managers?
"A good manager is a professional who is able to federate teams, however much heterogeneous they may be, around common challenges, in order for them to contribute together to the success of the organisation, in an atmosphere of respect and trust".
What puzzles you most in the new generation?
"Without any hesitation that would be their taste for teamwork and their attraction for student society projects with a humanitarian dimension. Gen Z is far from being as egocentric as some people would have them, much to the contrary in fact! And this is a wonderful message of hope for the future of our society!"
