Tennis, racing, horse riding: let's all do sports!
The arrival of Spring spells every year the final stage of many student projects. As better weather brings us to make many good resolutions as regards sports activities, we have decided to put them in the limelight.
Jump'EM : Show jumping competition on the beach in Ouistreham
Nine EM Normandie students will be organising a show jumping competition on the beach in Ouistreham (Calvados, Normandy), on 21, 22 & 23 April 2017. 400 amateur and professional horse riders from all over France as well as 5,000 spectators are expected to attend this sports event which is altogether new in Normandy.
This show jumping (concours de saut d'obstacles - CSO) will comprise test events for younger horses, speed tests and grand prizes, with bars set at 90 cm up to 1m35. The climax in the event: disguised horse racing, scheduled on the Saturday night, with the support of amateur and professional riders to run a show which is both a sports event and a feast.
‘To organise such an event which is linked to the horse racing world was obvious to the members in our team, as we are both passionate riders and students at EM Normandie, in the region for horse breeding par excellence. Even though horse riding shows are very frequent here, racing on a beach is a novelty! We look forward to offering an event where a taste for challenge, the respect due to the animal and the environment, but also sheer pleasure, will be the order of the day' says Noémie Hurel, the EM Normandie student in charge of Jump ‘EM public relations.
This event is sponsored logistically and financially by Caen la Mer, the City of Ouistreham, HDCP (a company specialised in 100% natural reward delicacies for horses) as well as BiBoViNo Caen (the leading brand for premium bag-in-box wines), and the Fromagerie Conquérant.
Lawn Tennis: alumni & students compete in Deauville for the EM Normandie Championship
This is a major first: 7 students are organising the EM Normandie Championship, a lawn tennis doubles tournament open only to the school's students, graduates and alumni. 70 players are expected on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 April at the Lawn Tennis Club Deauville Normandie, the only Lawn Tennis Club in France. Friendly atmosphere guaranteed while firing a few volleys of the little yellow ball!
‘This Tournament is an occasion for students from the various campuses and alumni to meet during a sports event, to create links and extend their professional networks. The EM Normandie Championship is in some ways our own Business-Wimbledon and we do wish this edition will be the first of many others and will gather momentum as the years go by', explains Mathilde Auger, the PR Officer for the project.
The programme includes, qualifying matches on the Saturday, ¼ Finals, ½ Finals & Final on Sunday, with consolation games for those teams eliminated, as well as many moments for relaxation and exchange.
