EM Normandie in the top 20 of Le Point’s 2023 business school ranking

On 16 February 2023, Le Point unveiled its 2023 ranking of French business schools. EM Normandie Business School’s Master in Management (Programme Grande Ecole) is ranked 19th in the top 20. 

37 schools took part in Le Point’s survey which was used to produce this new ranking. It was based on six main areas (teaching and learning, international, development of professional skills, selectivity, research and academic recognition), and examined around 100 criteria.

Mad skills: a decisive advantage

The editorial team decided to write an article specifically about mad skills, in other words skills based on individuality, such as life skills and the ability to adapt. The article illustrates this topic by telling the story of Gabin Forcier, a 2023 Master’s in Management graduate, who used his gap year to meet Esperanto speakers. “I had the idea of making a documentary film about my trip, with the support of my hosts, who I met through Pasporta Servo, a free accommodation service for Esperanto speakers. Of course, I made progress and understood the approach of those who learn this language, but above all, I found a job!”

Indeed, Gabin landed a work-study contract for his M2 year. An association asked him to make a documentary on marine conservation based on his range of past experience. “At every job interview I've had, I've been asked questions about Esperanto. It sets me apart, attracts attention, and people know who I am.”

The race is on for the best campuses

This article on business school campuses describes the move towards offering more services, and redesigning campus spaces to provide students with high-quality services. Elian Pilvin, Dean and Managing Director of EM Normandie explains that: “the pandemic shifted the rules and strengthened the campus concept. Before, the classroom was the only place in which knowledge could be transferred. Now, the use of remote learning has turned this on its head. This has gone hand in hand with greater freedom in building design, moving from a set of classrooms to a more transformable space which can be used for work, meetings and socialising.”

So which is better, the city centre or the suburbs? Each school has its own strategy. Speaking for EM Normandie, which opened its new Clichy-La-Garenne campus in 2022, Elian Pilvin is delighted that “while finding a large space in Paris is almost mission impossible, our Clichy campus gives us access to a really dynamic location with great potential for links with industry. L'Oréal, Bic, Amazon and Monoprix all have their head offices there.”
