The "School for life, School for good" philosophy: 2nd axis of the new strategy

School's life

In line with its History and its "School for life" philosophy, EM Normandie intends to actively participate in the world changes by 2030 and to be a positive impact organisation

It wishes to transcend the concept of Business School towards that of "School for good". This collective project mobilises the entire organisation, led by a new environmental and societal impact department.

Working groups to carry out reflections

The strategic orientations for 2030 are the result of a collaborative effort begun in June 2020 and led by Élian Pilvin, Dean of EM Normandie.

Several working groups - about a hundred employees of the School and about thirty personalities and experts from the academic and professional world - have been mobilised to reflect on:

  • The faculty "The school of tomorrow and the profession of professor-researcher"
  • The programmes "Programme production process"
  • The student experience at the School "The Ideal Experience"

The purpose of EM Normandie

To inspire and train the generations of yesterday, today and tomorrow to become actors of a sustainable world and to allow them to be free to think, learn and create.

This philosophy is called "School for life, School for good" and has the following objectives:

The “School for life, School for good” philosophy

Supporting students throughout their lives

EM Normandie wants to guarantee a personalised experience throughout life. To do this, it is setting up a unique teaching system by rethinking all of its teaching models around skills acquisition modules.

In addition, it is investing massively in its faculty with an annual recruitment plan for 15 professor-researchers until 2025 and in its WARD platform, which aims to be the first Metaverse among the French Grandes Écoles in the next 5 years.

WARD: the gateway to the Student Experience

WARD is a smart and personalised multi-support platform available everywhere, all the time and for everything. It combines the power of cognitive science and artificial intelligence: a real “first” in the world of French Grandes Écoles.

Its personalised suggestion engine guides students in their choice of electives, expatriations, specialisations, internships, work-study programmes, jobs, etc. Real-time gauges help identify the student's growing skills and encourage them to take action: make appointments, search for members by country of expatriation, etc.

The platform is also the gathering point for the entire EM Normandie community: students, Alumni, professors, recruiters and business experts. Not to mention the practical day-to-day features (teaching materials, events, news, diary, note-taking, etc.): everything is there!

More than ever, the student is an actor in his or her own career, progress and employability.

A mobile application and its first functional brick will be available from January 2022.

Provide an enhanced learning experience

Qualia: the enhanced learning experience

As a link between the Faculty and the EdTech (Education Technology) department, Qualia is the hub of an increasingly immersive digital pedagogy based on practical experience.

The Learning xPerience is one of the 6 facets of the project: based on the major principles of neuro-pedagogy, it places the student at the centre of his or her learning by offering an engaging, interactive, collaborative and creative pedagogy.

Engaging pedagogy gives meaning to learning and encourages the acquisition of know-how in a "learning by doing" mode. It places the student in real-life situations, pushing him or her to think and then act: project management, case studies, Serious Games, challenges, roleplay games, field visits, meetings with professionals, etc.

Help the student contribute positively to the world that is emerging

Several observations emerge from this work. First of all, humanity is being disrupted by environmental, social, economic, technological and ethical issues. The plurality of these issues requires a review of the future generations’ academic background in charge of reinventing the world. To do this, these generations must be provided with the conceptual tools that will enable them to develop their free will and critical thinking skills in order to find innovative solutions to complex problems.

To achieve this, it is necessary to put the student at the centre of his or her project by allowing him to reveal his talents and to trace his own path towards creating a better world. By considering the student as the main actor of this change, EM Normandie does not aim to change the world but to change the people who will make it.
