Account manager in work-study at the Foll-ow agency
Nour, a work-study student at Follow as part of her course at EM Normandie, talks to us about her assignments and the advantages of doing a work-study placement during her studies.
Ruben Cohen, founder of the agency, tells us about his company and the advantages of work-linked training.
Could you introduce us to your agency?
Ruben Cohen: Foll-ow is a creative influencer agency that works exclusively with influencers and content creators. We support companies in their influencer strategy throughout the year.
What are your responsibilities as a work-study student?
Nour: My duties at Foll-ow as a work-study student involve monitoring clients and advising them on their influencer strategy. At my level, I look after the operational management of campaigns.
What I like most about this job is all the operational management, because I'm the project manager from A to Z. That means I can run a campaign from start to finish. This means that I can see a social media campaign through to the end, so that it's carried out in the best possible conditions.
Why is it a good idea to hire a student on work experience?
Ruben Cohen: It's interesting for our agency to recruit students on work-study contracts. These students are highly motivated and keen to get their hands dirty. They've generally studied a lot of theory in class and the work-linked placement gives them the opportunity to put their knowledge into practice.
This is the time to prove what they are capable of when they join the company.
Why did you opt for a work-study programme?
Nour: I chose the work-linked course so that I could specialise from my Masters years onwards. After three years of initial training on the Caen campus, and having explored community life and university exchanges, it was obvious to me that I should choose this course to specialise in the field I like best: influence.
I was lucky enough to be taken on by the Fo-llow agency for a work placement and then a work-study programme. It was an obvious choice for me to do two years of work experience.
What skills have you developed during your work experience?
Nour: There are a lot of skills that you develop on the job when you're a work-study student. In particular, you learn to manage your time and plan your actions in a timetable.
A huge advantage of work-linked training is that you get paid and gain experience directly on the market. It's a real opportunity to be able to do a work-study programme from Master 1.
How do you organise your time between classes and work?
Nour: You spend half your time at school and the other half in the company. You have to be able to organise yourself between the group work you have to do, the homework... And everything to do with our responsibilities in the company.
I would 100% recommend work-study to all students who come to EM Normandie. It's a great way to gain experience and to come out of a Grande Ecole with two years in a company on your CV. It's a real opportunity these days.
